Choice has increased dramatically since I moved to Norway in 2006. Although I was depressed when first Meny closed where I live, followed closely by ICA.

Sorry to say that the Norwegian Supermarkets are low on variety and quality it’s at a premium price. And if you like to buy organic food products, my advice it’s to travel to country’s near by. The protectionism from the norwegian farmers affects the freedom of choice of the consumers.

I’m thinking of visiting Tromso Obs before a roadtrip through Lofoten.

I’d appreciate your answer. Thanks!

Agree. Every other country in europe has better supermarkets than here in Norway. The variety is extreme low, the quality of vegetables is very poor: mold on paprika, dried out garlic, overripe avocados etc etc, the list goes on and on. Supermarket employees doing a very bad job in general removing rotten vegetables/fruit. I’ve been living in Oslo for over 3 years now and this country really takes the price for having the lowest variety of products and the poorest product quality in the whole of europe.

It’s hard to come to a so-called rich land and see the poor amount and quality of products sold in supermarkets. Portugal is waaay smaller and poorer yet it’s possible to find fresh food being sold every where, or enter a Lidl to buy cheap tools, UK/Italian food or an Aldi to get that cheap good product from Germany.

That’s a huge surprise..😄 I would say that Bunnpris is one of the most expensive ones, except for Meny of course, but Meny at the same time offers completely different quality of products. Rema 1000 is still a winner for every day shopping and Meny for something special. In my opinion the best vegetables are offered in Turkish shops like for example EuroCash or Albaraka in Trondheim. It’s hard to compare the quality of those vegetables to vegetables from the supermarkets and the prices are much lower.

And is there a real greencrocer selling genuine fresh greens, carrots and root vegetables.I am a trained meat expert .and would be happy to trade off my time and be rewarded with some produce.
